We have compiled a list of suggestions for teachers leaving to teach overseas. Although you can get most things when you are teaching abroad, we found that sometimes English teachers had a hard time finding specific things. |

- Clothing for 4 seasons – Remember you can buy things in Korea however if you are a bit on the larger size or taller than average you may have trouble finding pants, skirts etc. Dress more conservatively. This means no low lops, short shorts/skirts or tank tops in the classroom.
- Shoes - anything over a size 9 is hard to find for both men and women
- Underwear – Women bring extra bras, anything larger than a B cup is really expensive and hard to find. Guys, if you are not a fan of tighty whities bring extra boxers.
- Deodorant-sometimes difficult to find however carried in all department stores. It’s expensive so bring a few extra.
- Tampons-These are available in most large department stores, however bringing a few months supply is a good idea.
- Birth Control pills and condoms (If you plan on being active, please come prepared).
- Bedding - your school will provide you with bedding, however some teachers suggest bringing your own fitted sheet and pillow cases as they are softer and more comfortable than the ones provided.
- Photo album with pictures of your home, family, friends. The kids love to see where you are from.
- Souvenirs - Stickers, coloring books, pencils with your country flag, pictures of your country make great gifts or can be used in your class as teaching tools. As an ESL teacher, you will find that your job will be easier with stickers.
- Prescription medication-If you are required to take anything specific, I would suggest bringing a year’s supply. You can get most over the counter drugs and there is a drugstore on almost every corner.
- Cosmetics –There are tons of cheap places to buy great make-up. If you use a specific brand I would suggest bringing it with you.
- Towels – bring 2 large bath towels.
- A few memories from home-to put in your apartment.
- Western cooking spices if you are a huge cook like oregano, thyme, basil etc. Make sure they are not opened.
